Located directly off of trendy 17th Ave, Lower Mount Royal is a haven for inner city dwellers wanting to be close to the action.

Originally part of Mount Royal, Lower Mount Royal is a relatively flat area home to higher-density housing than it's neighbour to the South. The community has experienced dramatic changes in the last twenty years.

Lower Mount Royal has a storied past, originally developed as an extension of the prestigious Mount Royal community, which was one of Calgary’s most elite neighborhoods in the early 1900s. While Upper Mount Royal retained its more traditional residential character, Lower Mount Royal began to develop as a more urban and accessible community. Many of the stately homes from the early 20th century still stand today, giving the area a rich architectural heritage.

As Calgary grew, Lower Mount Royal underwent significant changes, with apartment buildings and condominiums gradually replacing some of the older single-family homes. Today, the neighborhood offers a balanced mix of historical charm and modern urban development, making it one of the city’s most desirable places to live.

Lower Mount Royal is located in the city centre region of Calgary. The community is bordered by:

North: 17th Avenue SW
South: Royal Avenue
East: College Lane
West: 14th Street SW

Despite being a highly urbanized area, Lower Mount Royal is easily accessible to beautiful parks and top-rated amenities.

A stroll up the hill, you’ll find two beautiful parks, Mount Royal Park and Cartier Park. The latter boasts some incredible views of Downtown Calgary.

An excellent range of inner-city facilities are all within easy reach, including the Glencoe Club located in nearby Elbow Park and is arguably Calgary’s most prestigious private sports and recreation clubs. The recreation club of the Glencoe offers a multitude of activities including skating, swimming, squash, tennis and curling to name just a few.

One of the top recreation centres in the country, MNP Community & Sports Centre is only minutes away and has everything from Olympic sized pools to multiple fitness centres.
